Louis Burnett is a partner of HNCL Executive and Board Search, located in San Francisco. For 14 years, Mr. Burnett was Co-Founder and the Managing Partner of Secura Burnett Company, an international retained executive search firm for senior level executives, typically in financial services. SBC also supported the regulatory and risk management activities of The Secura Group, based in Washington, DC. Partners included Arnold & Porter (Washington, DC) and Arthur Andersen. Previously, Mr. Burnett spent a total of 20 years in banking with Wells Fargo Bank and Union Bank. He later served as CEO of a successfully restructured west coast bank.Mr. Burnett serves on the board for Korfmann Burnett AG (Zurich). Previously, he served on boards of The Hertz Corporation (Park Ridge, NJ), Exigen (San Francisco; Moscow), A&A Actienbank (Zurich), The Secura Group (Washington, DC) Landmine Survivors Network (Washington, DC; Geneva) and the National Childhood Cancer Foundation (Bethesda, MD). He was also a non-executive partner of The Capital Markets Corporation (Antwerp). In San Francisco, Mr. Burnett has served on boards for Encirq Corporation, Fluid Ventures, and several not-for profit organizations. He was a Director of the University of California (Davis) Graduate School of Management and chaired the board of the Make-A-Wish Foundation in Northern California.
A graduate of the California State University system, Mr. Burnett attended the Stanford Graduate School of Credit and Financial Management and Wilton Park, a foreign policy school in England.
Qualifications:
As incoming CEO of a troubled, California-based commercial bank with a number of real estate subsidiaries in the western United States, Mr. Burnett worked with bank regulators to achieve a successful result. This led to a partnership with the former chairman of the FDIC and a large Washington, DC, law firm. That partnership worked globally on financial services regulatory matters as well as senior-level and board-level retained executive search. We have experience with bank regulatory agencies in the U.S. and Europe. We have been approved to serve on boards for commercial and investment banks by the Swiss banking authority as well as by U.S. regulatory agencies. Mr. Burnett is a founding partner of Korfmann Burnett AG (Zurich). In Russia, Mr. Burnett has previously served on the board of Exigen, a software solutions company with operations in Moscow and Riga.
