The Team: Leslie Cariani

Full Biography

Leslie Cariani is a Partner and the Head of the Financial Services and Financial Officers Practices of Hodge / Niederer / Cariani / Lindsay (HNCL Partners). She has spent 15 years with leading executive search firms, based both in San Francisco and New York.

Leslie manages searches in a variety of functional areas for clients in commercial and retail banking, investment banking, capital markets, asset management and consumer financial services. Her clients have included Wells Fargo, Visa USA, Greater Bay Bancorp, The Pacific Exchange, Union Bank of California and AXA Rosenberg.

In addition, Leslie manages engagements for clients in need of strategic financial executives, including Chief Financial Officers and Senior Risk Executives, across a range of industries.

Prior to forming Hodge / Niederer / Cariani / Lindsay (HNCL Partners), Leslie was a Senior Partner in Heidrick & Struggles' Global Financial Services Enterprise and a member of the firm's Diversified Financial Services, Global Investment Banking and Equities, and CFO Practices. Leslie joined Heidrick & Struggles in 1995 and, based in San Francisco, helped to establish the firm's financial services practice on the West Coast. She later moved to the firm's Wall Street office.

Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles, Leslie spent three years with the executive search firm Spencer Stuart in San Francisco.

Before her career in executive search, Leslie was a member of the Institutional Equities Sales team at Bear Stearns, with responsibility for coverage of Italian and Swiss clients. Her product coverage included research sales, trading sales and equity derivatives.

Leslie began her career on the trading desk at Langdon P. Cook, GSI, a firm involved in proprietary trading of US treasuries, municipal bonds and commodities.

A graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles, Leslie earned her Bachelors degree in history.
