The Team: Jeff HodgeFull Biography
Jeff Hodge is a Partner and CEO of Hodge / Niederer / Cariani / Lindsay (HNCL Partners). His executive search practice focuses on assignments to place Chief Executive Officers and Corporate Directors. In addition to his general management and Director search work, he has conducted assignments for senior managers in charge of most functional areas. Clients have included AT&T, Bank of America, Deloitte & Touche, Clorox, Kaiser Permanente, Pacific Gas & Electric, Genentech, Apple Computer, Delta Dental, Fireman’s Fund and Charles Schwab among others.Jeff has often been called upon to do senior level, high impact recruitment in industries challenged by major changes brought on by growth opportunities, industry consolidation, deregulation, sudden innovation or financial crisis. Accordingly, during his career to date, he has done major searches in Financial Services (during the S&L crisis, and recently, during the consolidation period), the Technology Industry (during the early start-up phases of Apple and others), the Airline Industry (during deregulation), the Energy Industry (during deregulation), and Healthcare industries.
He has spent over thirty years with leading executive search firms. Prior to forming Hodge / Niederer / Cariani / Lindsay (HNCL Partners), Jeff was the Area Managing Partner for Heidrick & Struggles North America – West. Previously, he was the Managing Director of Spencer Stuart’s West Coast offices. His earlier search affiliation was with KPMG Peat Marwick in Chicago and San Francisco.
Jeff is a pioneer in providing diversity solutions for his clients’ recruiting needs and has also developed some of the strongest, most diverse search firm organizations in the executive recruiting industry. He has embedded a culture of inclusion and diversity throughout the firm, from internal hiring practices to the pools of world class candidates provided to clients. Since inception, 45% of the firm’s placements have been women or diversity candidates, as are two thirds of the firm’s Partners and Principals.
Prior to beginning his executive search career, Jeff was on the audit staff of Deloitte & Touche (then Touche Ross) in Chicago. Jeff received a B.S. in Business Administration from Indiana University and is an active member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD). He is a founding Director of the NACD’s Northern California Chapter. Jeff is also a Director of the Sentinel Node Oncology Foundation(SNOF).
